John Parkin

St. Ives South & Needingworth

John moved to St Ives in 2018 with wife, Carolyn, and two young daughters to become a university lecturer in education. John and his family fell in love with the town as soon as they visited.

Before moving to St Ives, John was an assistant head teacher of an infant school in Surrey and has been a primary teacher for over fifteen years. As a university lecturer, John enjoys helping people to become teachers in the future. He is currently researching how to encourage more men to become primary teachers as well as the experiences of educators during the pandemic.

As well as spending time with his family, John is a governor of a Cambridgeshire primary school and a member of a pre-school committee.

John has been a member of the Green Party since 2013 and set up a Green Party branch in Woking, where he previously lived. He joined the Green Party as he felt it was the only political party which promised to build a sustainable society for the common good.

John is privileged to be standing as the Green Party candidate for St Ives South and Needingworth as he wants to help keep St Ives a fantastic place to live as well as helping to make our community even more sustainable in the future.
